j2 Global Acquires Onebox Unified Communications Assets From Call Sciences Acquisition Includes Subscribers, 'Personal Assistant' Service Offering and Intellectual Property Assets
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- j2 Global Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCOM), a leading provider of outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services, today announced that it has acquired the Onebox® unified communications assets from Call Sciences, Ltd., a New Jersey and United Kingdom-based provider of Internet unified communications solutions.
Call Sciences provides its subscribers with unified communications, "find me/follow me," desktop faxing and Web-based email services. j2 Global intends to continue operating the Onebox® services, and over time expects to offer some of those services on j2 Global's more robust service platforms. The company expects to generate a non-material amount of revenue during the current quarter as a result of the acquisition.
This acquisition offers j2 Global a number of key benefits, including:
* Additional paid subscribers * Full-featured unified communications services, including "find me/follow me," which may be incorporated into future j2 Global offerings * Strong brand identity through the Onebox name and Website (www.onebox.com) * Additional DIDs in the United States and Europe * Two issued and one pending U.S. patents in the fields of unified messaging and Web-based teleconferencing

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed as the financial impact to j2 Global is immaterial.
