Help! J2 or eFAX?
i'm going to be starting a business in a short while, one of the big problems i have is internet faxing.. searched for a while and found J2 and eFAX. if anyone has any experience with any one of them, please reply to the following questions
1. does the free service give random numbers? if so, then why does efax say they'll find the number closest to your phone number when signing up?
2.what are the limitations of J2 free and eFAX free?
3. is it correct that as long as I stay within the limitations, i can use the service for as long as i want?
4. is there any association between the fax numbers they give me and my local phone company?
5. people send fax to you, but the fax is sent as an email attachment right?
6. J2 messenger needed for eFAX and J2?
7. in the case of J2 connect free, J2 messenger can only view your "*.efx" file but cannot print it out?
8. is there any difference between efax and j2?
appreciate the help!
I had my own dreadful experience with the eFax customer service.
I was recently charge more then $300 for some mysteries services, the invoice was hard to decipher, cluttered with “service adjustment” items.
In response to my eMail I was requested to call the call center.
The rep on the phone started with reading out to me a standard text of the screen, this took several minutes and was not less confusing then the bill itself.
It was only after I had interfered that she was willing to investigate the issue.
At that moment I was so much frustrated that I decided to cancel the service.
I had a free acount with them and then added the "Plus" service. After about 6 months they started charging me for the "Free" account. I had to go back and forth with them to finally get my money back. Phone support (toll call) said they would reverse charges but I had to email them. After emailing them for a credit they emailed back saying that they would not. They finally agreed to the refund. They have your credit card number and can charge whatever they want whether you asked for it or not.
They are also having a technical problem where I receive multiple copies of the same page with a fax. Someone sends me a 1 page fax and I get a 3 page fax that repeats the 1 page they sent 3 times. My usage had tripled and I have been charged an extra $20/ month for the last 3 months. I am looking for a different solution.
I would NOT use efax!! They have no concern for their customers.

we're trying to join efax affiliate program... so far we follow up every 2 days, phone and email...first we can't reach them on phone. 2nd, only email i ever get from them is an autoresponder. i guess i wouldn't want to refer them to my friends anymore. i wouldn't even get the help i need for myself.
any idea what other fax provider we can use? we'd like to build some business by referrign fax providers... :) *preferrably with live support*
thanks
there is a whole section on EFAX, hope you have found it! Most of the reviews are negative.
Beware! I have found them very frustrating to contact. the software is rubbish and full of ads. also they will not send invoices so you cant put the charges through your business.
but worst of all, they are taking £7.50 per month out of my credit card, and wont send me a bill because they insist their service is free.
dont do it! and certainly dont let them have your bank details.
(Now using Puma, no probs so far...)
